Hunters discover "new" Worgen pet

July 4th, 2009 by admin

wi-whiteworgen Hunters discover "new" Worgen petAs the weekend rolled around, we started to get a number of tips that were successfully training themselves a… ? ?!? How was this level of cool allowed into the game without anyone knowing about it until now?

Well, it turns out that the is in fact a very clever use of game mechanics somewhat akin to those used by Hunters in order to tame the (now sadly vanished) Grimtotem Spirit Guide. Garwal, a warg NPC in northern Howling Fjord who can turn into a as part of a questline (the link is the Horde version, but it’s the same for both Horde and Alliance) can actually be tamed and kept in form if the timing is right. Mania’s Arcania has a look at the process used here, which involves a little math, a little guesswork, and the strategic use of Wyvern Sting.

Enter to win some loot cards from WoW.com and WoWTCG.com

July 4th, 2009 by admin

sandboxtigerpurpleshirt Enter to win some loot cards from WoW.com and WoWTCG.comIs it just me, or have we had lots of -only contests lately? First, Lesley gives away some loot cards for the , and then Turpster gives away some more. This is July 4th, and it’s about time we served the North American side of the globe! (Canada, we missed Canada Day, so we’ll throw you in the mix, too). Courtesy of our good friends over at WoWTCGLoot.com (be sure to visit them if you need to know anything about the TCG ), let’s give away some codes!

We’ve got 10 in total that we’ll give away to ten random commenters on this post before tomorrow night, Sunday July 5th, at midnight. There’s an Epic Purple Shirt, two Sandbox Tigers, three Papa Hummel’s Pet Biscuits, and four Party Grenades up for grabs — to enter, just leave a comment on this post, and since it’s Independence Day, how about telling what your favorite kind of firework is. I was always partial to the black snakes — most people though they were boring, but I knew how the big ones blew up, and I never really understood just how those darned snakes worked.

One comment per person in the and Canada only, please, and do be sure to use a real email address when you comment (that you check often) so we can get in touch with you ASAP if you win. Good luck to everyone, and happy Independence Day!

hey guys!

I have some trouble to choose the right equipment for max dps.
I started playing 2 months ago after 1 year of pause. First with two-hand (for pvp and pve); but since the patch of fury i tried doing some fury dps.

I think my equipment is quite good, but not BiS. As i played Arms, gemming ArP was the priority and as much ArP as possible. Then i got Grim toll and now i am not sure how to gem.

But first my equipment (will try to log out in fury specc): The World of Warcraft Armory

Here are the stats:
mainhand: worldcarver 232.5 dps (berserking)
offhand: rune edge 232.5 dps (berserking)
AP: 4360 (besri stance, without shout)
Crit: 32.90% (bersi)
Hit: 225
Arp: 666 (54.97%)
Expertise: 22 (manihand) / 25 (offhand)
Haste: 70

Now my questions:

1) Should i just gem all slots to strengh, cause of Grim toll?
2) Is the weapon combo of worldcarver+rune edge better than runde edge + ironsoul (offhand)
3) Would it be better to take "mirror of truth" and kick grim toll, and stay at about 55-60% arp (passice)
4) I also have gloves and legs T8 and could swap, so i could get the 4piece set bonus, but i think the loss of some important stats is too much? opinions?

5) should i change the legs with clockwerk legplates and so loose the 2piece set bonus of t7,5?

My Prob is atm, i am not quite sure how to change some pieces, so i stay at max dps possible. i am quit happy with my dps now, most fights 5k+, sometimes 6k+… but i always try to do my best with the gear i have or is available for me.
(My raid is doing 25 uldu and start hm’s, we will do hodir hm next)… and in Uldu 10 we have most of the hm’s down, council, general and yogg not *g*)

thx 4 help

At first I was going to let this one go because you’re European and it’s probably not your first language, but the laziness of "neva" and "em" and "ofc" made me reconsider. Make sure to capitalize all your sentences too please. There’s numerous spelling mistakes as well, if you have access to a spellchecker you might want to run your posts through it before submitting them. Thanks!

I personally feel that Horde’s Racial’s bring’s more advantage to enviroment’s then Aliance. That i think everyone can easily understand, due the fact almost every player with higher gear hit caps him self, wish makes the talent form draenai useless. Altough Blizzard always takes in consideration all the aspects of the game, PVE,PVP,RP and also the Solo playing. For PVP Aliance has some good advantage agaisnt horde with the human’s racials and the gnomes Scape artist talent for example. So i do think Blizz made things balanced in overall, but when it comes to , yes horde does take the advantage.

I’m afraid this is just another monopoly scheme to win profit, cuz this will neva work properly.
1- If im in a high lvl guild on aliance side and i play with players for so many years, i won’t change just because horde has more talents that can benefit me, unless ofc the whole guild changes to the other side.
2- I think this will unbalance the game alot, due the fact horde’s guild’s can now try to "steal" the good player from the aliance side to join them and promise spot’s in raids, this will make aliance even weaker.
3- I really don’t know what will happen after this, but seems that soon enough will we be doing instances with horde and aliance on the same group?? and talk with em on trade???

WoW Insider Show live on Ustream this afternoon

July 4th, 2009 by admin

wishowlogo225 WoW Insider Show live on Ustream this afternoonOver 200 years ago, our forefathers put forth a document that not only declared the Independence of one of the greatest nations in the world, but also sundered the connection between the old country of Great Britain and the new United States of America. Now, all this time later, and I do the Insider Show together, and basically undo all that work those smart guys did way back when. This week we’ll have an especially good one, as Adam Holisky, Alex Ziebart, and Michael “Belfaire” Sacco are all coming on the show all together. Just in case you thought they were all the same person (some sort of former Blizzard CM/blog posting/contributing editor maniac), we’ll prove you wrong.

And there’ll probably be as well: we’ll be talking about faction changes, the changes to in patch 3.2 (including the extended lockouts and the new universal armor tokens), Blizzard and how they’re dealing with raiding exploits, and oh yeah, something called Cataclysm. Plus, we’ll answer your emails and chat live with you on the our Ustream page. It all starts off at July 4, 2009 3:30 PM EDT. We’ll see you there.

Oh, and next week, since both and I will be out of town (for vacation, of course), we’ll have another special midweek show for those of you who can’t tune in on the weekend. Thursday, July 9th at 6pm Eastern, we’ll have a live show going on, so mark that on your calendar and we’ll see you then as well. Both shows will end up on the iTunes feed as usual, but if you want to tune in and listen live, please do.

I’ll warn this instead of infracting, because this is a borderline anecdotal post. It doesn’t really specifically answer questions, it’s more of just telling your random experiences. The last line in the post wasn’t even necessary, for example. Anyhow, just please try to narrow your responses to direct answers, etc. Thanks!

We 2-heal (pally + druid) almost all of 10 man Ulduar, but Vezax hardmode we have our enhance shammy respec. Honestly, the "hard mode" seemed easier than the normal mode to . Took all of 3 tries, and I fully expect we’ll one-shot him next time.

Are you kiting him? We don’t, at all. Kiting him before the Animus introduces all kinds of points-of-failure, and after the spawn it’s even worse.

We have tried both without and with kiting depends on the tank we have each week (usually is a DK for this boss but some times its a warrior). We didn’t have any problem with that.We wiped cause of some unlucky spike damage while our 2 healers were trying to keep mana for Animus.

We will go with 3 healers this week.I hope it will save some time and go to sleep earlier :woop:.

Around Azeroth: Karma chameleon

aa-camo-580 Around Azeroth: Karma chameleon

Note to all you Americanos out there — be careful with your Independence Day ! Otherwise you’ll end up like Bilirubin of Daggerspine, disintegrated so thoroughly that the only thing left behind is your confused, jawless spirit, wondering what on earth just happened. Either that or you’ll survive to explain to me and the other EMTs why you thought it was a good idea to operate a homemade mortar launcher after drinking a twelve-pack of Coors Light. The disintegrating-into-dust option would probably be more pleasant.

Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting images that are just collecting dust in your folder? We’d love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!

Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Happy Fourth of July from WoW.com

July 4th, 2009 by admin

orgforthefourthofjuly Happy Fourth of July from WoW.com

It’s that time of year again — is in the air, is well underway (I’m still pulling for the Cubs, even though it’s a rollercoaster as usual), and things are on the, um, grill. Here in America, today is Independence Day, and we’re celebrating our independence from you folks — don’t take it personally, but we’d had it up to here with your taxation without representation, and we just wanted to spend some time on our own for a while. So while most of our bloggers are relaxing and lighting explosives on fire, posting might be a little slim around here today. Just in case you need something to read, you can always catch up on all the amazing Patch 3.2 details, dream about going to BlizzCon (or just ogle the costumes), or finish up your Midsummer Fire Festival achievements.

And if the last few years are any indication, there’ll be some celebrations in this evening as well (yes, even on the servers), with aplenty (we’re pretty sure they do them on the hour every hour this evening — Booty Bay always has a nice display), and and outside the capital cities. So if you’re here in America with , be sure to have a very happy and safe Fourth of July from all of here at .com!

Breakfast Topic: Is WoW too complex?

July 4th, 2009 by admin

md-looking-for-group Breakfast Topic: Is WoW too complex? As I said the other day, we’ve talked about the dumbed-down argument quite a few times before, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard the opposite argument put forth so succinctly: Tadaa asks, over on the forums, “Is getting too ?” Longtime players will probably say no at first glance — the game has been streamlined a lot since it first game out, and things that took up much of your time previously (tracking quests, looking up quest targets, dealing with respecs, and finding groups) now have systems built into the game that let you get past them easily. But think of what it would be like to step into nowadays — instead of just a chat channel where you can find groups, there’s a whole system with terms like “damage” and “tank” in there. On first glance, it might be tough to figure out. And then there’s things like resilience and Replenishment (which some experienced players don’t even fully understand), and even things we think of as helpful (getting pets and currency out of our inventory) can be super confusing for new players: where did that go that I just clicked on, or that badge that I just saw looted to me in the combat window?

The Queue: Panda-monium edition

July 3rd, 2009 by admin

225_580_pandaren-1600x The Queue: Panda-monium editionWelcome back to The Queue, .com’s daily Q&A column where the Insider team answers your questions about the . Michael Sacco will be your host today.

Here’s a Queue question straight from me to me: What do me and panda bears have in common? The answer is rings around our eyes, though I’m pretty sure that pandas have them genetically and not from staying up until seven in the morning watching Veronica Mars.

But of course, what does that question have to do with The Queue? I could say “I guess you’ll just have to read on! Excelsior!”, or I could just tell you that it’s because people asked about today. Let’s start off with some basic questions first, though.

iamnotacarebear asked:

The question i have is with this increase of running the , is the red heroic drake going to be removed? I would hate to see this happen, but i wouldn’t be surprised.

Good question, IANACB!
